Motorcycle Road Trip

The thread in GNAC got me thinking...how many guys would like to get together on the bikes for a trip? One thing holding people back from GTG's is the mileage and gas money, maybe cutting back on the cost a little bit will get some more people involved.

That's a great idea Weeds, only I don't have a bike anymore. Hm! maybe if I just drive on two wheels nobody would know the difference. Does sound great though, your right it would really make a difference on the gas bill. Lets see if anybody is up for it. C'mon guys post up.

Weeds, where are you in PA? I have a bike and I'm always willing to ride. Anybody else? By the way, 1994 Honda Magna 750. Looks like a cruiser but goes like hell.

I'm in Pittsburgh, about 10 mins south of downtown. It's kind of hard for me, because most of my buddies still ride like idiots, and I don't even wanna try keeping up with them. 1988 Kawasaki Ninja 250. Looks like a crotchrocket, but goes like uh, molasses?

Well that sucks. I'm on the opposite end of the state from you, i'm between philly and allentown. Not to mention i'm all about cruising also, and most of my buddies have rockets and just want to fly, so I know how you feel. Nobody else has bikes?

I want to ride but I'm still recuperating from a bike accident and then a fall last year. I don't even know if I could ride for an extended period of time. I do go sit on a guys 1200 sportster regularly to see if I can get my foot up on the pegs. A little more rehab and I will try to ride again, if not two wheels then I will have to go with three. I will positively ride again, just don't know when.

Weeds, we have to ride together at some point. If Joe gets his 750 fixed we can all go out for a ride. I know of some sweet twisty roads in Washington PA. I'll have my SV650 ready to go.

Well, since the weather looks like it's starting to break, I thought I'd dig this back up. Anybody get their bikes out yet? Start doing some of the maintenance you've been putting off all winter? I know I've been meaning to change the oil, coolant, and tires, and didn't finally do it until this week.

I'm going to say I'm out. After lots of thinking, I think the bike will be going up for sale. I just don't ride it enough to justify the cost. It's a sweet bike and I'll hate to see it go. None of my buddies are ever available to ride, and it's just too boring by yourself.

Aye fellers I'm hoping to put the Honda Goldwing (1993Asp.) back on the road this year but there's a lot of work to be done here rebuilding my home. Don't know if I'll have the time to do it...but I'm hoping! I haven't straddled a seat in 2 years and I do miss it so. Up until 2005 I averaged about 16,000 a year on the bike. Toured from Bangor, Ma. down to Panama City, Fla. and as far west as Indianapolis. (sp.?) Rode on Skyline Drive and The Blue Ridge Parkway more times than I can count. If ya'll ain't been there..you gotta do it! Take a ride on The Dragon down near The Great Smokey Mts.!! You'll never forget it! Go to Oil City, Pa. and pick up Rt. 6 and take it all the way across Pa. west to east. Spend a night in Galeton, Pa. at the rental cabins. John and Nancy Hines are the owners..real nice folks! Stop in at The Grand Canyon of Pa. and spend a night at the motel there. Fer about $40per. night (room to sleep 6!!) they have a great bar, excellent food and a view you'll never forget! On the east end of the trip stop in at the Woolrich factory and take a tour! Slip down Rt. 11/16 alongside the mighty Susquehanna and stop in at Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop. Lord...I do miss my riding so. Mebbe this year..mebbe. Audie..lost in my thoughts.

oldfart, I actually just got off of the Dragon Tail webpage (http://www.dealsgap.com/). Gotta love the pictures of the "Tree of Shame". I'd love to go down & ride it sometime, maybe I can make a trip over there this summer while I'm down that way on vacation.

Alright, now I have a question for you bike guys....
Right now I have an '88 Kawasaki Ninja 250. Was a nice starter bike, still would be a great bike for commuting back & forth to classes this year. Well, I found an ad on craigslist, a guy is selling an '02 Buell Blast and getting a Ninja 250 for his wife. The Blast is a 500cc single cylinder Harley engine, but only puts out 35hp and weighs about 80 lbs more. People still say they have rode on the highway with no problems, though. I offered to trade my bike to him, and add some cash on top of it, but it'll depend on whether I actually like the feel/power of the bike before I actually go through with it.

So the question is, do any of you have experience with a Buell Blast/Ninja 250, and do you think it's worth trading mine for his?
