Light Questions

I have a '01 F250 7.3L 4x4 Crew. I figured if I could get any answers to this you guys would be able to give me some. I have a few light questions that I CANNOT find answers to:

1. I want the headlights that look like HID's. NOT the blue ones but almost florencent light look-alikes(make sense?) Like the Audi's and High end cars have. With out putting in the $550 kit.

2. I am looking for the three marker lights under the tailgate. Ford wants $40 for the assembly. I don't want a cheap product but will go for "inexpensive". Anyone?? Anyone? The holes are predrilled and I can hook them to my plate lights but where can I get them. DOn't like the LED bar.

3. Without getting the LED tranformer thingy I believe the only place to put LED's are the roof lights and the thrid brake light!? COrrect? I want a truck taht you can see from space!. But not tacky.

Thanks for the help!

Eric

Not sure on #1, but on #2, you can try Wal Mart, or an autoparts store. The one that comes stock on Ford duallies is made buy Truck-Lite and is the model 15 ID bar. Should be able to get it for $20 or less. Why would you not want an LED version, though... or are you thinking of the line of fire LED bar??

Here's the truck-lite incandescent version:
http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs...3785&langId=-1

Here's the LED version:
http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs...3782&langId=-1

For #3, by LED transformer thingy, do you mean a new flasher relay to make the blinkers flash at the right speed if you add LEDs to the blinker circuit? If so.... yeah only stock lights you could replace with LED would be cab marker lights or 3rd taillight... or the ID bar or fender markers on a dually (unless you've got the fenders setup as turn signals ).

I can answer your HID kit problem. I have 2 options for you, though both require joining a forum. Up to you on how much money you want to save. These are 2 links for Group Deals on the Maxima.org forum, but you can't beat the price. The Bi-Xenons are little bit more, but both come with the lifetime warranty. And it's a lot better than paying $550 a kit.

Helios (among the best you can get)
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=484498
The seller is also well liked on the forum, and this is his 3rd time around doing this Group Deal

Co-Way
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=487094
This guy just started up, first I've seen of his thread. The lifetime warranty for the Bi-Xenons is more than the Helios, but the bulb temperature selection is more.

For your question #1. If you are looking to simply replace the bulbs on your headlights to get a brighter light, you can try a set like PIAA Xtreme White Plus which have direct bulb replacement with 4000K brightness rating. I have used them in one of my other vehicles and they produce a brighter, whiter but with a slight bluish tint to the beam of light. It is a simple bulb replacement. They are sold in pairs too. Yeah I have Silverstars in Headlights and Foglights, $80 worth, and they are still too yellow and they are 4000K. So I HAVE to go HID. Found some tons on ebay and the new chip kind that does away with the ballast for 179 including everything.

Eurolite has what i think you're looking for.

wal-mart has individual small LED markers like that. girlfirend's dad has them all over the golf cart... they're nice. thought about doing that myself.

every marker on the exterior of my truck is now LED; taillights, blinkers, markers, 3rd brake light, plate, everything. i have the Recon 3rd brake light replacement unit, and the rest of the bulbs i got on ebay, for about $50 total with shipping (bulbs, not recon unit). i then had to replace the flasher with an electronic unit like you mentioned, but that was an easy $12 swap.

BBender,

Where on ebay did you find the LED's? That is a sweet price.
