Most of the cost going into these new vehicles is recoup from paying their engineers to come up with all the latest tech gizmos all over the engine. The whole vehicle is govened practically by chipsets and sensors. Nobody has the equipment to even check these engine malfunctions unless you have the diagnostic equipment that is very very expensive. The actual cost of a new truck is helping subsidize the enormous salaries that Ford has to pay in order to keep themselves on the cutting edge of tech. breakthroughs that the Japanese are and have been running away with. Go figure!
i know my truck came with a winch from the factory, i also know it doesn't have one now. the pervious owner broke the clutch, took it off, and got rid of it. i think it was covered under warrenty too. but now i need one. as for the stament of dodge being better, like i said i have no loyalty to any truck makers. i just seen the best reults from in thier classes from the way i listed them. my ranger could be an excellent mudder, but i dont want to take it off roading. i have it as a race truck. with the gears i would fly off the trail get stuck, or worse. i dont mean to offend anyone by aying what i peronally feel are the best types of trucks for certain jobs.
How do I afford it never buy new, always pay cash, work on them myself, and keep them forever.
And the internet is a fantastic place to shop for vehicles. I did just finish upgrading the fleet took three years but go it done with out a payment I started with a 99 CV a year later a 03 Ranger and early this year a 05 E150 van. The van I found on autotrader at a Ford dealer about 150 miles away It had less than 30,000 miles on it and I got it for less half what it sold for and that number was 4000 back of sticker. (They left the original bill of sale in it.) Barring something unforseen these units should take me about as far as I will go.
Alen your not offending anyone, we just like to have some fun with ya buddy. I would hate to think that you would have to get a replacement winch from dodge, Lord only knows what they would charge. Maybe you could go to a dodge dealer, and sneak a peak up under the bumper of a new power wagon, and see what winch they use, then buy it somewhere else, I'm sure it would be cheaper.
