What year is your truck? You got a 1976 F250 listed in your public profile, but that is not the truck we are talking about is it.

If possible put all your truck information into your signature, this makes it a little easier for everbody to help you out.

Smile thanks! found it...now to replace or disable?

thanks hamberger for pointing me in the right place; it was right where you said--where the pushrod goes through the firewall. i was looking all over on the clutch side of the brake pedal, not seeing that there's a crossover tube that ends up routing the clutch to the right of the brake pedal. found the "can", so old and beat up that removing it from the pushrod was cakewalk.

now, i could just patch between the two blades on the connector and never have to worry about depressing the clutch to start it. i guess the only bad thing is that the cruise control wouldn't disengage when i pushed the clutch in--i'm guessing that's what the other two wires are that go to the switch.

I don't have cruise control so I could not tell you, but it makes sense that you would have to dis-engage the cruise control if you engage the clutch.

I think you have hit the nail on the head about the cruise control and the other pair of wires.
