My 2006 6.0 runs like a top. I run the Banks Big Hoss. But...am I starving my motor of air? Is the stock intake worthy of all the extra power? I asked Banks when I bought the kit, why don't they make an intake system like the Dmax? The guy said the Ford's is good stock, but they are working on a new intake soon? hmm. My truck blows a lot of smoke when I mash it. It is a diesel...but, can I reduce the unburnt fuel by allowing more intake flow with a better system? Anyone really notice a reduction in smoke with a better intake, or better yet..more responsive power? Every motor I have owned, has benefited from an aftermarket intake system. So, is it worth the $350 for an intake? Thanks!~Brad
badbrad60...Don't waste the money on ANY aftermarket intakes as they do not provide any better airflow than the stock 06 setup. Also don't go cutting holes in your truck. If you do a search in these forums you will come up with a weeks worth of reading on your question. The DMAX intake is far from being good and I wouldn't take the long list of problems that come with one. If you are trying to match a perfect airflow-intake to eliminate black smoke you won't be able to and still make the amount of power that you would be happy with in a truck. The Ram-Air effect that people keep discussing and thinking will help is completely wrong for a turbo-charged vehicle.
