Scratchin' My Head About Chrome
Hello,I have a 2007 F250 w/chrome package.I was polishing the front bumper and there was 2 tiny pieces of chrome sticking out.It's just enough to grab onto the towel,or sponge.So,as I was polishing the bumper a piece must have lodged itself into the towel,and I didn't know it.I go onto the running board and I see scratches into the chrome,obviously from the piece in the towel.Is there any way to get those scratches out? If the cut actually cut in to the chrome plating like one that a fingernail will feel, there is not much that can be done. Scratches can be sanded out of polished aluminum and re-buffed to a high polish. Chrome plating is a many stepped chemical process with the chrome plating going on last, so it has to be re-plated when damaged. You might try mothers chrome polish or blue metal chrome polish using a soft cloth buffer wheel for light blemishes though. jmo
