Hello, First time poster. Last month I bought a 2003 X (33,000 miles) with the 6.0 Diesel, leather, dvd etc..Two days after purchase I drove the family from CA to Montana for vaction. I know the 6.0 have problems but the X performed exceptional getting 18-20 mpg at 85mph. The E350 V-10 van we turned in would only get 8-9mpg during the same trip. Anyway I would like to put 305 / 75 tires on and was wondering what is the minimal lift I will need to fit these tires. The X just doesnt look right so low to the ground (2 wheel drive). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for the reply..Can you reccomend a good 2" lift and from where? I saw an X this weekend and it had a set of GRABBER AT2 295/75 R16 and a very small lift if any. I really liked the way it looked and I want the same tires on mine, I just need to know what its going to take to fit these tires...
Well, you can go in a few different directions on lift. You can install Ford V code springs and different shocks as one route. Donahoe makes a good 2" lift that you won't have to change out the springs, but its a little on the pricey side. Check with a 4x4 shop, they may have some F-250 springs and u-bolts lying around they would sell you on the cheap. Good luck !
About the biggest you can go with without a lift using a 20" x 10" wheel would be 325/55/20. 325/60/20's will work but may have a scrub issue. The way to accomidate this is to remove the screws holding the wheel well liner and push or jack the liner back toards the drivers compartment and reinstall the screws. You may have to trim a little of the plastic from the underride bar trim below the bumper also. Take your time and mark where you want to make the cuts. Use a sharp, not necessarily good, knife and heat it with a propane torch to help out. I know this works. i did it to my brothers '02 4x4 X. Good luck and post some pics when ya get-er-done.

I want the 295/75 AT Grabbers put on the 16" factory rims. What is the best way to accomplish this without bying new 20" rims. Anyone with suggestions or who has put 295/75 on their 2wd X ?
