4.9 differences??

Looking at getting an early 80's F-150 that needs an engine. Have two engines located already- an EFI 87-91ish and one in a New Holland combine. Basically I want to know if the EFI engine will run with a carb setup without problems- read somewhere here about differences in the combustion chamber that could cause ignition timing problems. As far as the combine engine is concerned, is it the same as a truck engine or is there reasons that it shouldnt be used in a road vehicle (compression ratio, etc)?? If it makes any difference, I am seriously thinking about trying propane with this vehicle too.

The EFI engines have a slightly higher CR than the older carb'd ones. I'd think that'd be a good thing though. It's not that much different.. can't remember exact numbers right now though. The EFI CR isn't in the 9's.. still in the 8.somethings.

Should work fine so long as you have an intake for it. Some guys go to great lengths to swap the EFI head to their carb'd engines just for the CR boost. And you'll get the EFI exhaust manifolds with it
