Today we remove the 300
Started removing the 300 out of the 84 F-150. Was going to rebuild a stock 300 but now am wondering if I rebuild it to stock specs and remove the emissions with a header and a 4-barrrel will it go through smog? Oregon DEQ says it only has to pass the emissions test,no under the hood visual inspection. We will keep the catalytic convertor.

Food for thought. My Chiltion Van manual schematic showes the 1984-86 VAN with a TFI ignition sysyem run by a computor and about 9 sensors that live on the manifolds and carbs. You planning on adapting all those sensors to the new manifolds? Good luck! Another plan is to add a different dizzy with a vacumn advance, coil and module in the parts basket on the rebuild list. And be prepaired to yank the old computor with the old wiring harness out with it. So do some homework before your emissions test.

there is no reason it will not pass a sniff check you will want a few miles on it first. a properly tuned performance engine will usually pass the sniff check. I used to be able to pass a sniff check in Califorina but could never pass the under hood inspection.
