Have you verified the concerns that the dealer is attempting to address with these parts? I'd definitely want a second opinion about big things like the manifold leak...
The manifolds according to the dealer will foul the plugs and/or lead to cop failure. Not sure I buy that. There is no unusual steering/clunking from the front end. When i've had the front in the air I've used a 2x4 to try to move the wheel up/down. I'm no mechanic but I couldnt detect any movement at the ball joints, just the normal suspension compression.
With the exception of the battery/alt & coils, none of these issues are a "must do" right now. The manifolds probably should be next on the list. The rear diff cover is a 2 hour job tops.
Almost forgot, they also said I needed all 10 plugs...even though I changed them abot 1500mi ago. They said " Oh, they will probably need to be done soon because of the exhuast leak" I'm not if I'll use these guys again in the future.
The news just keeps getting better...THe A/C not only needs a new clutch, but now also needs the ECM for the HVAC system...$453 plus labor please.....NOT. Thankfuly I live in NH and only really need AC like 5 days a year. Looks like time to comb the junk yards.
Wow, it seems like your truck is breaking by the minute. I would be a alittle suspect towards the mechanics. How could all this stuff be broken already with only 7++++ miles? Do you beat the hell out of your truck?
Sounds like you are getting shafted. Remember that most dealer machanics are flat rate paid, so they do not get paid if they don't out something on your vehicle. Not all dealer mechanics are crooked, but a lot are. I'm am in the business, and I smell a rat.
I was told I needed a head gasket on my 99 5.4. $2,000 parts and labor. Went to another Ford dealer $900.00 parts and labor. One side only on both quotes. Less than half the cost for the same job. There are some real crooks out there.
I'm beginning to feel that invisible hand trying to lift my wallet. If they said $3200 parts and labor, I wouldn't feel as bad. I picked up the truck last night and they said when they replaced one of the bad coils the other "bad" coil started working..wtf?? The service manager said something about the "sister coil" infering that they were somehow connected. Then they tried to talk me into applying for a Ford Credit Card so I could put my repair bills on that.
I walked out of there for about $330 which included the diagnostic fees for the A/C, Engine, and charging system, replacing a coil and plug. They ran the battery down running the truck because the alt was dead. So when I tried to start it I just the starter clicking. The service manager brought out his jumper pack and I tried to tell him that the truck will not stay running w/ a dead alt and run down battery. Sure enough it stalled 90 seconds after he removed the cables. I ended up having to fork over another $85 for a new ford battery so I could get to work. I would have had it towed by AAA if I had the time.
HI, I am new to the site. I am shopping and educating myself for a future purchase of a NEW truck. I am a die hard Ford person with an open mind??? I was a fleet manager for 25 years. So I have a lot of background in purchasing and maintaining vehicles of all kinds but mostly pickups and medium duty trucks. I am real concerned about what I am hearing about the new Fords. I hear things that in 25 years never happened to the trucks we used....and used HARD. Things like front hub and bearing failure in the 4X4. Manifold leaks and a/c compressor problems etc.
Just a few of the things I am wondering about. Has anyone had problems with their 4x4 front bearings and hubs? I read an article in Truck Trend that said they have seen extensive failure at low mileage (under 75k).
Just a post to get started on this site. I am sure I will have more.
I smell a rat here too! Did you bring it in there with an issue, or did you ask them to look it over and tell you everything it needs? Thats like a written invitation into your bank account!
1) I don't think a 4x4 even HAS ball joints! Whatever kind of joints it has, i seriously doubt that they are worn out at that mileage- does it steer and drive straight?
2)Do the hubs work? is there vacuum to them? Even if they dont work, you have manual over-ride.
3) So what? I drove my old 460 w/ 2 broken studs for 5 years.
4)Brakes- Wear item- any decent independent shop can handle.
5)AC Clutch: Should be replacable w/o repl the whole compressor. Now they want to do the ecm? RUN AWAY!!
6)COP- Been there- Luckily mine set a cyl #6 misfire code.
7-9)Again any shop can do those things.
Maybe I been lucky, but i have 80k on my 01 v-10 4x4 with esof, and have had none of these issues -except the bad COP which I saved a few bucks by taking a chance and just replacing the one, rather than paying the shop for diagnosis. I lucked out there.

Dealer quoted $3200 in parts alone...no clue on labor yet. I told them to replace the COP's and the AC compressor, $670 w/ labor, also includes diagnostic costs up to this point. Good thing I'm not real attached to my money. Who knew superduty ownership would be so pricey.

Just for future refrence, you should start your own thread. It keeps people from being confused what the thread is about and what the topic is. Welcome to the site.

I'm looking at that list and only one thing jumps out at me- that truck has had one heckuva hard life. Pricing sounds kinda high, and there are a few things I'd want to know "why" on before I just went ahead and replaced them- alternator and battery jump out at me.

One thing you didn't see in your 25 years experience is the lifts, mods, and motors pumping out north of ...... gee, maybe 400/500+ HP. Some of these trucks get hammered something fierce- and they have the power to turn normal components into shrapnel in short order.
