Well guys, I'm taking off today and driving the '53 on a big road trip. I'm going up to Northern Idaho and returning Sunday. Round trip, it will be around 1000 miles. I've been waiting for this trip for a long time, almost more than completing my truck. My grandpa moved up there about 6-7 years ago. He used to live just down the street from me and he helped me ALOT with my '53. He has been real anxious to see the truck. He is an old hot rodder himself. One of his first hot rods he built is the one in my avatar. I'll post up when I get back!
Enjoy the ride and the time you spend with your grandfather. I am sure he will enjoy seeing what you have done. Please send in an update when you get back with some pics...
That sounds like a great road trip!! just keep in mind that if anything goes wrong along the way that it is all part of the adventure and will make for great stories for years to come.
I'm back, guys, and thanks for the good luck! I had zero issues with the truck, it ran awesome! I took so many tools with me, my buddy asked me if I planned to overhaul the engine along the way My Grandpa loves the truck, and was happy he was able to see it and go for a good long cruise in it. He said he hasn't had that much fun in a long time I would have liked for him to drive it, but he has a real hard time moving his head around to see, (he's 85 years old). On Friday, we went to the Good-Guys show over in Spokane, Wa. We had a good time I'm looking forward to taking the truck up next summer.
I remember my first long trip in my truck. Of course, for some it wasn't a long trip. It was about 60 miles but 120 round trip. I was real nervous for the first 20 miles, then I figured, Ah, it's stayin together and enjoye the ride. Pulling in the driveway on the way back was a really good feeling. Ed.
