Help!!!!! I have a 1975 F-250 4x4 highboy with a 390/C6 combo. It's a great truck as long as it starts. That is where the problem lies. Somebody accidently reversed the polarity when they were changing out the battery (seriously, it wasn't me!). And now the truck does NOTHING!!! I changed out the selenoid, relay, and installed a new battery and it still does nothing. Do I still need to change out the voltage regulator? This truck also contains a lot of Camper/Trailer Special parts but the truck does not have the aux. battery at all. I hope there is nothing seriously FUBAR with the electrical. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Check the fusible links from the starter relay (aka starter solenoid) to the alternator, Some times they will burn out when the battery cables are crossed polarity. Peel back the electrical tape with a sharp razor just grazing the tape. Inspect the fusible links and the solder connection.
Also check for any burnt or frayed electrical wires around the battery, alternator, voltage regulator and starter solenoid. Solder all new electrical wires, do not use the crimp on connector, they will corrode and come loose over time.
