I was looking at my fluid levels today and noticed on the trans plug it says atf only.Is this correct i don't have a manual for this truck 88 f250 7.3l 4wd. Also the rear mounts are broken off can these aluminum castings be welded. The tranfer case also has atf not sure if it runs right through. I made a strap to go over the housing and go right down in the trans mount to hold it for now.The tranny shop can replace the case for 200.00 plus labor not bad until you here the labor 1200.00 because you have to split the case and drop out the shafts and gears not like the old tranny's where the mount is on a seperate extension piece between the tranny and transfer case.Does anyone know the specs on the 7.3l torque and hp of a stock engine.I have listed before the mods to the air intake and exhuast thanks everyone.
Yes, both the ZF5 and the Borg Warner Transfer Case use Dexron III Mercon ATF.
ZF5 tranny capacity is about 3.2 liter which is less than a gallon. This little amount of oil is another reason for changing your ZF5 tranny oil often.
I dont know, Im sure you could get an adapter. Afterall I can pick up a np205 all day long up here for +/- $200 cdn...that leaves alot of money to mate it to the tranny. If youve got an extended cab or crew cab, #1) a divorce mount will give you better front pinion angle and #2) with all trucks, dropping the tranny will be much lighter when you need to change a clutch.
Divorce mount will require a longer front D-shaft and shorter rear, the intermediate one going between the 2, a crossmember, and extended linkage. I still dont see that hitting a $1400usd price tag.
the problem is the back of the ZF is also your cross over mount and where you t case bolts up.in order to run a t19 with a np205 case i would have to change everything...i'm also looking to beef up my front end and would like to change out the dana 44 up front for a dana 60 thanks for info..any specs on motor hp and tq ratings.also i'm located in upstate ny buffalo area anyone that does any paint and body work? everyone i talk to just does insurance claims and don't want to paint a nice old truck that would pull their forien car sideways......
