Funny looking ranger.

Ok, i weres on my way home from work, when this little ranger pulled out in front of me. now this normally isn't funny when a little truck does this to me, but today was the ecxeption. when it finnished turning i looked at the rear tires, and saw the were both evenly leaning to the right. and not a little bit, but like 10 degrees.

Now to the point of this post, it looked like the same years ranger as mine (93-97). What possibly caused this, and is there a way to prevent it. If it's only an accident, then nevermind. i am wonder if something likely wear out on the thing.

Definetly thinking it was an accident. I can't see a way for it to stay like that while driving...

Sounds like a warped or bent frame.

Couldn't be a warped frame.

Remember the tires are attached to the wheels (duh) which are bolted to the axles. The axle is a straight line, theoretically if it wasn't it wouldn't work without a U-joint or the like.

I just can't picture this thing running on flat, level ground with tires bent to one side... Can't see a possible way.

exactly what I was thinking, the axle shaft would have to bend 20 degrees every rotation, and it just wouldnt work.

Could it have been that the frame was listing due to a broken or weak spring, or a spent shock asborber? Might make the body drop down and give the appearance of a racked rear end.

I had an old jeep that I needed to move, I slaped acouple of tires on the rear with one, or two lug nuts (don't remember). Pulled the jeep with my truck, and when the jeep turned, both rear tires leaned like that (it had tires on the front all ready) Just finger tightened the lugs, just enough to move it from point A to point B. The point is, it let the tires lean after turning.

Or if you had one much taller tire on one side, then the entire axle would actually "lean"...

Yeah but he doesn't mention one tire being absurdly taller. That would definetly be noticeable if it made a 10 degree difference.

No, everything seemed normal, tire size. bumper spacing from the ground... the tires just leaned. looked pretty funny, but scary at the same time. basically, i dont see any reason to fear this happening to my truck unless i crash it. well actually my gf would, she's been drivin it lately, i drive the dodge.

Don't worry about it just randomly happening, that would definately qualify as a fluke lol.
