What are you trying to achieve? If your TC needs to be drained, I'd just flush the trans with a flusher. If your trans is toast, take TC out and toss it. The only way I'd feel safe is if they cut it open and cleaned everything out. Not worth it unless you have say a Precision Industries TC that is worth 1K
If you live in a state that requires a converter then gut it. The inspection is mainly visual, otherwise remove it.
I wouldn't. Even if you don't live in a state that requires it, there is nothing to say that it won't require the converter tomorrow. I'd gut it. That way if I sell it, I don't have to answer any questions.
I already gutted it out. A little persuasion, a 2lb hammer, and a 3/4in piece of pipe and she runs better with 273,000 miles than she did with 75,000. Even with the Banks Stinger II she would smoke a little when entering the freeway to get up to 70-75 mph. Now, I can't see much of anything in the side view mirror. It was very noticable right out of the gate. We don't have emissions testing here in Michigan. I was just wondering if any of you guy's had either taken your converters off or just cleaned them out. What a difference it made. I should have done that a long time ago. I'm thinking my gas milage will probably be better too.
