KC Multi Chapter GTG Date Poll

I have put an "Other" on the poll. If you have a date that works for you please post the date and vote other. You never know, others may like that date much better than the ones I have listed in the poll. Have an idea or a question? Please post it.

I'll go ahead and put some of my ideas for this out there. To me KC has always been known for it's BBQ. So I'd like to see some world famous KC BBQ in the plans somewhere. We can meet at a restaurant or do our own at a lake or park somewhere.

I'm going to contact some companies for some prizes to give away.

Now this is just my idea and is not a rule or written in stone. Your ideas are just as important and please post if you have some.

This poll ends on the 25th and then we can start work on a place for the GTG.

I voted for Saturday. I'm not going to miss the Chief's game on account of dinner.

What about Gates BBQ up there on The Paseo?

Some more ideas I'd like to kick around. I will have some dash plaques made for this and will have packets for all who attend. Trying to get packet items now and I'd also like to have some prizes to give away at a drawing.

If any of the other CL's or members would like add to this please do. We could even have a design contest for a logo for this event.

As a multi-chapter gtg how many chapters do we have in on this deal?

How many people have expressed interest? My wife and I went to a MO gtg on the east side of KC--there were only six or seven of us, but I know that there was another MO gtg in St. Louis that same day. Who knows how many people went to St. Louis who would have otherwise come to KC.

I voted for Saturday, Sundays just flat out won't work for me--but either way I'll do what I can to up interest.

I have posts in the Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas boards for the KC GTG, and Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas for the South gtg.

I don't have a number of those who have expressed interest.

The idea is to get folks together from the areas chapters. I'd like this to be our first yearly area gtg. I hope we can have the 2nd one October 2007 and maybe have an expanded version in 2008. I am trying to get activity on the chapter boards on this. I really would like input by others.

I also voted for Saturday, and I'll be there regardless. Blue50, we missed you at the statewide meet.

Thanks. I was in summer classes. I'm trying to finish grad school by next May. I should be able to make this gtg though. Hope to see everybody there!

Hey All,
I had to vote other. I'd love to come but I have to work on the 7th and at night so it kinda kills that whole week-end. I'm free the week-end of the 14th and the 28th. But everything else sounds good.

Guess it's time for an update. Ken is sending me some goodies. I have others I will contact also. Dash plaques will be easy and I'll get working on those next month.

I'll get a location poll up after the date poll ends tomorrow.

Looks like Saturday October the 7th is the date. Now we need a location. It has been sugested that we go to Gates BBQ. I have never been there but Authur Bryant's was great when I went a few years ago. They say there is very little parking at the old original Bryant's location and I went to the one at the Ameristar Casino. They have TV so the football games will be on. First come and serve on the steating. You go through a line to get your food and they had some really great beer I had never heard of before. I'll call to see if they have a smoking section.

Ryan could you give me more info on Gates? Address would be great and I can call on the other stuff. But if you know off hand if they have a small room or section for us and if they have a smoking section pleases let us know.

I found this link also: http://www.rbjb.com/rbjb/bbq.htm

I have Gates and Arthur Bryants BBQ so far. Any other locations?

I called Gates on Paseo and that is the World HQ. I was given three locations that have rooms we might be able to get for our GTG. Or if we want to have them cater then that is where I need to call

3205 Main

10440 East 40 Highway

1325 East Emanuel Clever Road

Gates web sight is: http://www.gatesbbq.com/

Authur Bryants at the Ameristar Casino is at 3200 N. Ameristar Drive.

Arthur Bryants web site is at: http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/
