Hello,
I am working on my vacuum leak to fix my problem of dying in gear...on my Automatic Choke there is a vacuum hose that comes out of it, well today I realized that it wasnt hooked up to anything, it was just dangling. Heres the question: WHERE IN THE HECK DOES THIS THING GO!? Does it goes on the right vacuum connection on the carburater, not the one that goes on the distributor, but the other. I have search my whole engine for another connection, and this is the only one I have found that works..is this it?
Typically there's a small vacuum port in the choke and carb castings to pull air into the choke, at the bottom of the choke should be a metal tube that runs down to the manifold to pickup hot air. The concept is that as the engine gets warm, the air being pulled into the choke gets warmer, the metal coil in the housing expands and rotates the center shaft making the choke turn off. If you don't have the connection to the intake the choke will never turn off. The vacuum port in the back of the choke is typically part of the castings and not visible until you remove the choke.
