Clint, did you ever get ahold of Alan? I talked to him shortly before the trip and he had mentioned that he was heading out to meet with you out there. Hopefully everything is okay and ya'll tied in.
Worked out better for me - I stopped by his house on the way home. His wife took pity on a poor old traveling single guy and not only fixed lunch but sent some homemade sweet rolls along when I left.
Alan has a nice shop - I will slip over there and help (or hinder, maybe) when they start building their race truck. I like the high sodium diet Bonneville provides!
I just got home - I had intended to spend a few more days on my trip but Yosemite was full, and they did not allow me to camp there.
I have almost 1000 photos, I will post some later. I also was given press credentials and am set up for some even better photos next time. I will write a couple of articles and see if anyone else is interested. There is another Bonneville meet in October, and, of course, Speed Week next year!

The temps were moderate, 90-95 days and 50-65 degree nights. Easy to sleep without air due to being windy. Didn't have any T-Storms at the flats, but quite a show a couple of evenings to the south. The glare when on the salt is just like being at a ski area on the snow. You get sunburned from the incident ultraviolet. I was well tanned when I got there and I got sunburned. A bicycle is a nice accessory, I rode all over the pits. A lot of motorheads take mopeds of motor scooters, but I need the exercise. I rode to and from the salt so I could drink a beer and still lose weight. It is a long ways out to the end of the pits from where we camped.....about 15 miles.
Doesn't cost much to camp there, and admission is $10 a day or $40 for the week and that pass is a button....... They sell hats and t shirts and good sunglasses and clip-ons at reasonable prices.
Had a great time. I was with four old high school gearhead friends, some of which I hadn't seen in 50 years......We got along great!!
Alan
