i have a 97 f250. it runs, drives, ect perfect. nothing wrong.
i recently bought a 01 f350.
so the 250 has been parked, but still driven a lil every 1-2 weeks so it doesnt sit too much.
hopped in it this weekend and stick the key in and it wont turn, i kno its the right key, and ive both of hte original ford keys i have for it, and ive tried unlocking the steerign wheel, but none of that is it.
no1 has tried to break into it as it was still locked and everything when i got in it and nothing was damaged.
but the keys will not turn in the ignition.
whats going on and how does this happen when it isnt ebing driven to break?
If you used the key to unlock the door, it's the right one for the ignition. My suggestion is semi-violently rock the steering wheel back and fourth while trying to turn the key. Sometimes if the wheels are turned when you turn the truck off, the act of the powersteering loosing pressure tries to straighten the wheels. and with the key off and wheel locked it puts itself in a bind. Or you can try jiggling the key up and down in the cylinder itself. I've never heard of a lock cylinder locking up out of nowhere. But that don't mean it don't happen. If after all that, grab a 6 pack and the drill cause it's gonna be a long afternoon.
I agree with RubberDuck mine sometimes will hangup and not turn I just turn the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. It has worked for me so far.
i wish that was the case but ive jacked it up so the wheels have no resistance and jerked on the steering wheel.
im prolly guna call a automotive lock specialist and seew hat they can do.
haha empty my wallet huh.
ive already got my projects in honda/acura.
