I am at the point where I have decided to pull my current throttle linkage. The way I see it is I am not so much a loyal "stock" guy and if I am going to replace something I am open to whatever after market products are out there. Anyone have any ideas about a bolt-on or very mild fab upgrade that works for an '88 bII 2.9? I think the same would go for an upgraded mass airflow sensor. I know I should be carefull, but the better flow of air and greater throttle response touted doesn't sound so bad....
hmmmm I don't think I've seen an aftermarket throttle linkage for the B2. Why exactly do you want it out of there ?. Get a throttle body off an '86 or '87 B2, they will have a larger throat but will bolt right on .... a must do mod for later B2's. I don't think you have a MAF ( very few on Calif. models only), you probably have a MAP sensor. Any reason you think that should be replaced ??
Cool, thanks for the info.... OK, so for the throttle linkage(body) mine seems to be "sticking" and I have come to the conclusion that no amount of lube is ever going to fix it. So, like I said earlier, if I am going to change it, why not look into something better? Also, you may be right about the MAFS. I was assuming the big block of white plastic inline with the intake that the throttle is attached to was a MAF. My bad. I also assumed it would be wise to change the entire assembly. If I can improve my ride a little at a time, with the understanding that, ultimately, it is the sum of all its' parts, not just 1 fix item, then I guess the question would really be "Why wouldn't I?"
Maybe it's my bad, you shouldn't have a "big block of white plastic inline with the intake". maybe you do have a rare California model. I've never seen one in real life just pix. There are roller bearings in the TB body for the butterfly that may be your prob, sometimes the grease needs replacing. I use white lithium grease for mine and haven't had any probs after that.
