Highway And/or City Driving. Any Modifications Done To Improve Milage. I Installed A Tonneau On My 5.4, 3.73, Sc, And Get 18.4 On The Highway At 70mph.
2006 F250 SC with 5.4L, 3.73 rear, no mods (yet!!). I get about 14MPG on the highway. Depends on how much I put my foot in the throttle body. 18 sounds pretty good.
04 f350 4x4 5.4l auto sc sb toneau 4.10 gears, gibson exhaust, best mpg in ohio 70 degree day cruise on ,windows up, no a/c(on vent ),stk bfg tires, 18.8 hand figured ,overhead read 19.1 , truck normally gets 16.8-17.1 at 68-70 mph
slowed down to 55 mph and got 18.8 , also if youve never tried it ,lucas additive was in the tank , 3oz to ten gal gas every time I take this trip I try different things ,lucas consistently gives me 1.5-1.7 better mpg's , city about .5 mpg , not worth it for city driving when you figure in the cost of the additive, truck gets best mpgs around 1600-1700 rpms , Craig. (yeh I know 55 to slow but you
get over it after a few miles down the pike. )
99 f350 4X4 7.3PSD 4X4 3.73 CCLB, 4" side pipe, 80 hp chip, 4 inch lift on 36X14.50X16.5 Interco STS's, the best ive seen is 15.5 mpg's going 70 down the freeway at the magical 2000 RPM mark. tried going 60 and saw the same.
2006 f-250 4x4 6.0 sc long bed. stock except for a mbrp turbo back exhaust. usually about 21ish on the highway. but the other day i must have caught a tail wind on I5 because from san jose to the bottom of the grape vine it got almost 24mpg at 75 with the A/C blowin!!!

Highway: 18.5 average (1100 mile round trip) speed around 72 or so
City: 16.1 average over 4 tanks, lots o' stop and go traffic
Towing: 14.1 with 6500 lbs for 1500 miles, speed @ 70 mph
Specs: 2002 7.3L, 4x4, auto, CC, SB, 6" lift 325/60r20 BFG's, Intake, 4" exhaust, DP-Tuner, stock 3.73 gears, fiberglass bed cover, couple other mods here and there.
All mileage is hand calculated btw, never even look at the lie'o'meter.
99 F-250 S.C. 4x4 V-10 automatic, K&N filter, single Flowmaster,305/70R16`s, 3.73 gears 69k miles, normal driving, not getting into it much, camper top on or off, 11.2 mpg interstate @70mph, around town or country roads 8.8 to 8.9 mpg consistantly. hand calculated and meter are nearly the same.
Allow me to tell you about my '03 Excursion (Hey! it is a Superduty!). 6.0L PSD, 3.73 rear axle. No mods other than "missing" EGR valve. Weight of vehicle with full tank and me on board: 8050 lb.
Consistent commuting around town: 13.5 - 14 mpg.
Highway at 70 - 75 mph: 17 - 18 mpg.
Towing 9000 lb travel trailer, 6 people on board (GCW of 18000 lb) at 65 mph (4700 mile round trip this summer): 10 mpg.
I consider this an economical vehicle, when compared with what it can do.
2004 F350 CC Short 4X4 6.0 Auto - Bone Stock. I keep a fuel and maintenance log, which I make into a nifty Excel report at the end of the year when I go to write off my fuel expenses.
Best MPG Ever was 25.1. Basically, I fueled up at a little station in Flagstaff, drove it home and fueled up. That's about 150 miles for me, most of that down a mountain.
I average 16-20 on the highway. I usually keep it humming along between 70 and 75 out there on the open road. It seems to do its best in the fall out here.
There really isn't much of an in-town out here, but if I do shorter trips the average will stay between 15 and 16.
I use the truck to trailer quite a bit. My loads range between 7000 and about 10,500 lbs. If I do that, my mileage ranges between 10 and 14, depending heavily on what part of the country I'm in.
I do run the gray bottle of Diesel Kleen in the truck at a ratio of half a standard size bottle per full tank. The truck has a camper shell on the back pretty much all the time.
I don't do anything else that's particularly special. All I do is make sure it is well maintained and avoid digging in the spurs too hard.
From my log: Average city / mix 14.01 since new, and 18.9 strictly Highway.
I use the Quad XZT, and with the 20" wheels and 34.1" tires, 2000 RPM's comes at about 74mph; So that's where I usually cruise at. Wouldn't hurt to slow down.
2006 F250 4x4 CC LB 5.4L 3.73 Bone Stock 6000 miles... about 14 MPG on the highway with the tailgate closed. Looking to improve this and hope to get some ideas from this thread.
My V-10 with 6-speed gets 11-13 city and 14-15 highway bone stock. (2006 F250 Regular Cab 4.10 axle) Not the best mileage but good considering my old 460 got about 8-9.
