Chip Problems
I have a 6 position chip from Bully Dog. I know before the gang gets started, Jody has the best, but it was FREE.
I followed the procedures for the install. NO WORKEE.
A friend has an almost identical truck. Put the chip in his truck and it works. Swapped his ECU to mine and NO WORKEE. Put my ECU in his truck and it works.
What am I missing here?

Still cannot make the CHIP work
One of the notes in the install sheet states that the 'Wait to Start" light should function. Sometimes it does, dometimes it does not.
A test for the chip would be the "High Idle" setting. It does not increase the idle.
Another test is the "Valet" mode (Restricts truck to 70 mph). It does not. It will still run 95+.
Now if I put the chip in my friends truck (even with my ECU), it works just fine (in other words, change it to the 100+ HP mode and hold on). The valet and the high idle also works without a problem and no SES light.
Mine has not tripped the SES light, but the chip just will not work.
One other thing, when I got the truck, it had at one time apparently been chipped. The plastic surround on the ECU had already been cut away. The truck has been scanned and all settings are to factory specs. The ECU does not show Ford's Upgrade. The ECU is set as it came from the factory in 2000.
Any ideas?

One might be backward compatible and the other not.

They are identical. His truck was built in the same month as mine.
Just as a test, we scanned his truck to see if the stealership had upgraded (flashed) his ECU/ECM. No flashed. His caoded back identical to mine. That is what is puzzling me. Mine will work in his truck and his in mine. Neither sets any codes. The chip just will not work in my truck.
