I am curious about all the different torque converters on the market today. I have cooked two stock ones so far and now have a triple disc (Banks...don't ask). I have run the AE software to measure when, how fast and how well the lockup happens at WOT and graphed it. It hasn't changed in the last 6 months, so that is good. What I would like to do is have all of you take the same measurements and we can compare converters. If we add the other information, such as; converter brand, type (single disc, triple, 5 disc), tunes, RPM, speed, etc, then we could really identify the good from the not so good. There will be some program differences, but for those who run Jody's tunes, the lock up is the same unless you had him do something special.
Here is what I would recommend logging:
Engine RPM
Vehicle Speed
Torque Converter Module Actual (this is what measures slippage)
Injector Control Pressure
Injection Ctrl Pres DC (duty cycle of IPR)
These should give enough information that if something doesn't look right, we may be able to figure out why.
Here is what my truck looks like with a 120 Jody tune. I have stretched the x axis to better see what is happening with the converter.
