If it's only 1 1/2 wider I'm sure I can handle that in my plans. Height no problem. With that in mind, are carb 351W's hard to come by?? What were they in?? Last question: I can assume then that there will be a very noticible difference over the 302??,,low end? high end?? or all through the power band?? Also, big weight difference between the 302 and 351W???
Thanks, look forward to your replies.

Best 351W to look for is the 94-97 motor. It'll have the roller block and may have the cam too. If it is a roller cam it'll be an F4TE grind. Good cam for a carb. specs are 256/266 (advertised duration) lift is .420/.445 with 1.6 rockers. Add 1.7 rockers and this goes up to .445/.473. In a 5.0 with E7TE heads, a dual plane intake and 600 Holley, it runs exactly like a FI motor. Only thing it won't do is compensate for drastic altitude changes.
Anybody know of an exhaust system for this 96 f150? I want a whole setup from the headers to the tailpipes, I dont see a 3 inch intermediate pipe doing the trick for flow in the middle of the system. It seems way to small to flow what two 2.25 inch pipes flow in the end. You guys tell me, maybe I am wrong, but the existing y pipe and cats are garbage for flow, way to small. So what do I do. There must be a system out there that will make it sound and perform like a 5.o Mustang setup, In the end thats what I want it to sound like.
it will never perform like a mustang no matter what you do to it- too much weight, also it probably wont sound like a mustang because the body will resonate differently
I disagree, not totally but I disagree. I see a major malfunction in that statement, I only think that since it has the same block and heads, the sound should be similar. 2.5 inch on a Mustang, and 2.5 inch on a F-150 with the same components will resemble each other to some extent, I mean **** they are the same blocks.

Dual 2.25" is PLENTY for a 351 cube motor. If you want LOUD, just stick a couple of Flowmaster 40's under there.
I seriously think the nicest sound i've heard from my truck is when i put the dynomax crossflow on. I've had cherrybomb glasspacks, just a cat, the "turbo" style mufflers, etc. Plus, with the dynomax crossflow its just like putting in an x pipe too, since its a dual in, dual out with a cross in the middle. Very nice muffler.
