3 different c4 trannys have been rebuilt and all have same problem 1st and 2nd gear ok but long pause between 3 shift and slips underheavy load and reverse slips under heavy load, rebuilt torque converter with first tranny rebuild, been using same torque converter for other rebuilds. trans guy shiped converter back to rebuild shop and they said there's nothing wrong with it. I really need some kind of answer, I've had a 302 sitting in my ranger for 2 years now and i cant drive it.
yeah but how can 3 different cores and several rebuilds have the same problem, I know the mechanic is not a smart one but i paid 300 the first time and he keeps rebuilding under the warranty, i dont see how he could mess up everytime the same thing. also he said the last tranny that he rebuilt came out of a running car that shifted fine
ok i took it out for another test drive and got on it, it slips from 1st to 2nd also at full throttle and i adjusted the modulator with no effect at all, screwed it in all the way and almost all the way out with no effect, should i adjust the bands?
well i droped the pan and was going to see if i could find something out of place in the valve body. soon as i droped the pan i noticed thats it a freakin C5, got the lockup TQ mechanism between valve body and filter. what do i do now, can i get a normal C4 VB for it, it already has a c4 TQ and if i could use a C4 VB what year should i get. also noticed the modultor has the green strip and the pin is 1 9/16 inches long
well thats good news or atleast better news, so the pin is too small? thats why when i adjusted the modulator nothing happend? what lenght should i get and can i get that at an auto parts store?
well i got the valve body and did the stage 4 mods that burly4x4.com has. now i'm going to check the clutches for leakes by puting some air to them. also would a restriction in the cooling line make a difference except for not cooling as good?
