I have a FOMOCO Rebuilt C6 in my 62 Unibody that was leaking fluid at the pan seal. When I replaced the seal, I found 2 "shims" lying in the pan. The truck had run fine the day before. I talked to a trany guy who thought they were my 2nd gear. He said I would be ok without them, I would just not have 2nd. I tried to run the truck tonight and the transmission is skipping and jumping badly. It runs in reverse great! Just not forward gears! I was about to take it to Columbus next week and am in a bind. Anyone out there who can help me would be considered a godsend. Thanks for listening. Jeff.
Jeff, When you find parts in the pan, it's time for a visit to the tranny shop and maybe a rebuild. You need to be experenced to go into an auto tranny. Is your tranny still under warranty?
