Thinking about purchasing a ReadyLift Leveling Kit for my 2005 Screw 2WD 5.4L and was wondering what my FTE community has to say about it. Consider I'm on a budget and the ReadyLift is $229. I can't afford much more than that but am really in love with the pics of the leveled trucks on this board. The last thing I want is to destroy my handling and I learned a long time ago you get what you pay for. So I'm leaving this in your hands and want to thank you for your comments up front.
P.S. I got a $500 bonus at work and am purchasing the Edge Evo from DPP. That leaves $175 and you can see that $229 is just above that. Got the wife's ok on the $229 but if anybody can think of a better upgrade than the lift kit I'd be interested to know. I have a roll-up tonneau cover, Gibson dual split exhaust, K&N series 77 CAI and have improved the sound system with Sony head and Polk speakers all around. Thought quite a bit about an Airaid TBS but am scared to death it is a scam. Any ideas?
Airraid TBS is expensive and you won't get the performance you want for the money you'll pay. Why readylift? Autospring is $79.95 with free shipping and its an upgrade you can do yourself. Then get a front alignment (toe-in only), and by the way you'll need an alignment with any leveling kit, so save yourself a couple of bucks. With the autospring and the alignment you'll pay anywheres from $110 - $125, depending on the cost of the toe-in alignment. Then you can have a nice dinner too!
Thanks Cav - I was unaware of the autospring but becuase of your input I think I'm going to get more bang for the buck. Preciate you man. I'll let you know how the install goes and post some pics. Thanks again.
I have 05 screw and I'm also looking for the leveling kit. Is the auto spring the actual spacer for the front spring or a replcement spring? I've heard of the add leaf 1.5" to the back. What is the recommended height for the level look? 2" or 2.5"
The autospring is a spacer that bolts onto the top of the existing strut. I have the 2.5" and the truck looks exactly level. If you tow or consistently place heavy loads in the back then the 2" will help prevent the nose up look.
I haul heavy loads of gear but not so often that I care about the once in a while nose up look.
