My son just shattered the rear window of his 1985 F150 extended cab. We have access to others out of a couple of newer trucks. Can someone tell us what years will interchange with his '85 so we don't get the wrong one?
The glass is the difference, as in thickness, up to 86 are identical, newer to 96 I believe was a bit thinner, but I may be wrong on that, as I also seem to recall that back to 73 may be the same as well, but without a doubt 80-86 will work.
Yeah, that was all the difference was on whatever year it was. Went through this a while back, my sister broke out a rear window on a 90's model, and that was what I was told, there was a glass thickness change, and it just required the seal to match.
Check some auto parts sites like AutoZone to see what they offer for the seals. That will tell you the year change for the glass. They probably don't offer glass.
Thanks for all the info, guys. We got a glass and seal from a 1987 and it worked like a charm. I think the glass is the same thickness as the '85 but we used the '87 seal anyway. Ours was dry-rotted and in pretty bad shape. So the glass is in and thanks again for all the help.
