My 98 4x4 5.4 L Expedition’s air ride pump went out last year and was replaced. I recently took a long trip and 20 miles from home and my air suspension light came on and the back dropped giving me a bad ride. The back dropped as far as it would go. I stopped, shut off the suspension switch and jumped on the back, turned on the car and jumped on the back and the sensor seemed to click. A few miles down the road it seamed to air up for an hour or so. I had to repeat this process to keep it aired up. Knowing the sensor light came on, does this mean the rear or front air ride sensor is working? If not which one could be out and how can I test these sensors?
A few weeks ago, at home, the vehicle dropped to the ground and wouldn’t air up. It finally did but continually went out on a fishing trip. A mechanic told me that some times the rear sensor gets rocks in it and has a hard time leveling itself out. He suggested taking the sensor out and see if there are any rocks. The forums I read tell me it might be a cracked line or union, or sensor’s, or connection. Are there any words of advice as to where to start?
Also when I replaced the air pump last year the check wash light came on. How do I shut this off?
