Tranny prob fixed.... huh?

83 F250 6.9 diesel. The transmission (C5 I think) was shifting really poorly. The engine would rev real high before shifting. I checked and smelled fluid level. All good. I checked all vacuum lines and linkage all good. I adjusted bands. Still same thing.

A couple of months went by and in the meantime I developed a fuel leak on the IP. Oddly enough my heater core started leaking also. So I changed the core, IP and gave her an oil change. The tranny is now shifting beautifully! No complaints of course, but I can't figure out how this problem fixed itself. Any possible explainations for this?

Sam

Your trans is a C6. Your shifting problem was probably related to the vacuum regulator valve on the IP. I have no experience with a non electronic engien behind these diesels, but, I know that problems with the VSV will cause just those kind of problems.
