Wondering if any have put headers on your trucks and if there was any noticable gain in power. I have a 94 supecab 5.0 that I plow snow with. Looking to get some more torque and power. Also wondering how much power headers will add if any. I was looking at gibson but am open to recommendations. Thanks for your help
I replaced my crappy ole exhaust manifolds with some ceramic coated shorties and I really didn't notice any nice improvement, well maybe a little bit better off the line performance that complimented my new precision 4.10 front and rear differential gears... You will definitely have to install some long tube headers though if you really want to feel in torque improvement. The shorties are nice, but I really doubt that they have improved much in power. All I can say though is the sound is alot meaner now since adding headers. Be sure to also to get some good copper or aluminum gaskets that you can reuse if all possible, please don't skimp on good quality gaskets, because you will pay for it in the long run trust me!
If you did an entire exhaust system...headers to tailpipe with high flow components, it would net you about 20wrhp give or take.
You can also add an edelbrock truck intake, maybe some 1.72 roller rockers, and a tune up...and together with the exhaust you'd probably pick up 40+ rwhp.
But it would cost you about $1700 w/o deals. (you could do it cheaper but it would be used parts/your labor).
