I'm trying to find a double din dash kit for my 2000 Excursion. I bought a new Kenwood KX-501 before realizing that I would have to trim the dash a bit and use a dash kit to make the install secure. The 501 is a double din HU.
On another thread, someone recommended a Scoshe FD1428B kit for double din installs, but when I checked the Scoshe site, it stated that this was only for 2005 and up Super Duties. Another kit was the Scoshe FD1426B, but it said it was for 2004 and up applications (no additional details).
The stores where I live don't stock any of these kits, so I will have to special order one. Before I do, however, I want to make sure I get the right one that will fit my vehicle.
I have installed a double din in my 2004 Excursion, pictures in my galery. I bought my installation kit on line, part 99-5805 for $16.00 at www.installer.com/kits/. It only has four pieces, but it makes the job. It is only for double din. The installation kit uses two plastic pieces that fasten to the sides of the new radio and clip it into the sides of the dash opening (after it is enlarged). There is a thin trim ring that covers the gap for a clean install in the kit. I had to lengthen the rear slide on mount due to the high location of the rear mount stud on the Pioneer.
