Cheapest Exhaust

Im trying to get the cheapest, best sounding exhaust on my 06 that i can. Someone mentioned to me getting a new muffler and running a flow master from the motor. I thought the truck had 2 stock mufflers on it, so would I have to get 2 new mufflers? I wouldnt mind having just a single exhaust pipe because its got to be cheaper right, less metal less cost, but am wondering the best route to go. Any body been in this same situation?

I had a muffler shop replace my stock muffler with a flowmaster 50 series, and put a crome tip on. The stock pipe is reused so its cheaper. I was out the door for $235.00

If I just replaced my muffler to something like a flowmaster 50 series, and keep the same exhust pipe running out the side of the truck, will that make the truck any louder or would I have to put a tip or something else on the stock exhaust pipe?

The tip only makes a small difference in sound that you can hardly notice, usually more of an echo with the bigger tips. They are just good for looks. The muffler is what determines the sound.

I got a 40 series flowmaster put on my 05 with SIDO 3" outs going straight out the back with 12 inch tips. Sounds stronger than it is, but the drone can get you if you're hauling @$$ but just city driving, or highway between 60-70 its ok, much faster and you can start to notice it. I don't really worry about the drone cuz thats the whole reason behind getting it. It doesn't make enough of a difference on gas, doesn't add enough HP to worry about, its reall just the sound. I got mine installed and out the door for $295.

No not at all. It is on a 4.2 though, but I also have a Tahoe with the 5.3 and a siso 50 series and it sounds great no drone. Its a good more of a mellow flowmaster tone great for suv's. My 79 250 with a 460 has a 40 series sido and it just has that loud american muscle exhaust tone.
