My 64 has no windshield washer, which is a real pain at certain times of the year, let me tell ya. It must have been an 'extra cost' option at the time, since the owners manual talks about it. Think they used a bag on the inner fender and some sort of pump, and a button somewhere on the dash. What are my options here to get something going. I'm gonna guess that factory issue kits are unobtanium, tho I might check the dealers, sometimes they have NOS stuff at a decent price. What do you guys do?
Tedster: I used a w/w box from a '70s truck, with the integral pump. My hood already had the squirters in it, so I just ran the line to them through a T.
I used the switch button from a boneyard '66 to activate it.
Hi John, One problem that he might run into is his inner fenders are rounded and not flat slopped like ours. I do agree, I would find something and make it work.

My 63 has a bag and a foot pump. Not sure about 64's but most likely the same. I would get a new style one and hook it up. Or you could use a new bag with a newer electric style pump.

My 64 has the original factory installed windshield washer set up. There is a "squarish" shaped hard plastic reservoir for the fluid with a removeable/replaceable electric pump. This system is mounted to the drivers side inner fender. The pump is activated via a black button on my dash - it works great. I'd be happy to take and post a couple pictures of the set up in my engine compartment if you would like to see it.
Yeah, the photos would be great, just to see how they did it. How are the nozzles installed at the cowl? Macs sells those for that year, maybe others, but I'd probably need to get some of the mounting hardware and such. I might try calling some junk yards around here and see what they have. Did Ford use the same part numbers for the pumps and bags and such on similar year cars? That would increase my chances I guess.
The first owner, a Farmer, must have been kind of a cheap old Ba$%6#d, heh. Three on the tree and a V8, that's *it*. He did spring for the fresh-aire heater though I guess. Sure kept good care of it though, and I'm happy to continue on with it.
Ted.
My 65 is the same way, no washer. I'm using 69 bronco squirters cause there on the donor for my engine swap. You can try to get the button for the washer from the usall places. I tryied Mac's and it never came, in fact the whole order never came for 5 months and then after several calles was told oh were sorry..........
I got one from D. C. the next week. It goes in the dimple above the ign switch from what i'm told here.
Save yourself the hassle and find the reservoir with intregal pump from a newer model car (85-up) and hook it up seperat from the wipers using a momentary switch. Hoses are easy and most Hondas have removable squirters in the hood already.
I'll post some pics in my gallery tomorrow some time. I'm actually one nozzle shy - it's nice to hear I can get them through MAC. My nozzles (or nozzle in my case) are actually mounted through holes in the hood - it's very simple, the nozzles themselves are threaded. Just pass through the hole in the hood and sinch down with a nut. The supply lines pop right on. I'll see what I can come up with as far as part numbers and such.
See you tomorrow!
Thanks, I'll look forward to the pictures. Yeah, I take a spray bottle with me, but on one road trip out West, I was going up/down a mountain pass on I-70 and all the big trucks were kicking up mush after a snowstorm and I was getting wacked with that gray road crap. Definitely increases the pucker factor when ya can't see, heh. I was hanging my head out the window trying to see and thinking "This ain't gonna work."
I found a salvage yard that has quite a stable of early 60's Fords so I'll check those out for cannibalization purposes. Wish me luck.
Tedster9,
I just added a pic of my wind shield washer reservoir to my gallery. The electric motor/pump is located at the bottom of the reservoir. Fluid is drawn through the pump via a rubber tube and pumped to the nozzles. It really squirts! I hope this helps.
Thanks Paul! Nice truck, and now I know exactly what I'm looking for at the salvage yard. I don't mean to get personal here, but it would appear you took your bride-to-be to your wedding in your truck?? I'd say she's a "keeper" fer sure!
Yep! I wouldn't have had it any other way. When we drove away her puffy dress filled the cab completely! My wife read your post and asked if I thought you were referring to her or the truck when you said she was a "keeper"! I've been with the truck for 12 years, I've been married only 1 year. Time will tell! ;-)
