I got the pink slip for my truck today and it says year bought or year sold 63. but my owners manual says 64. is it possible to have bought a 64 in 63? does anyone have any pictures i could see to campare? thanks:-X11
yes you could buy a 64 in 63. i have a 1960 ford econoline pickup. they built them in late 60 but they were built for 61. i guess most states back then just titled them as the year they were bought. i even bought a 73 ford titled as a 72. always had trouble with that one if i ran onto some one who new ford trucks.
The VIN is the Vehicle Identification Number. It is a serial number for vehicles, and includes other good info like motor size, etc. In the truck, when it was built, they put a plate stamped with the VIN along with other codes, and called it ia Warranty Plate. If you can popst taht info, we can tell you what year the truck wasmade and all sorts of other goodies - assuming the plate is original to the truck. (They often got lost or changed; today's VINs are extremely difficult to change with seriously damaging the car becasue manufacturers wised up to the criminals changing the VIN to get more money for a younger vehicle.)
You can find your warranty plate in one of several possible places, and numbers 4 - 6 will only show you the VIN, not the complete Warranty Plate info:
1. On the side of the driver's door
2. Inside the glove box
3. On the side of the radiator support
4. Stamped into the passenger side of the firewall
5. On a tag screwed to the driver's side of the firewall
6. On the passenger side of the truck, stamped into the frame, right about where the crossmember is.
That's no good. Look on the end of the drivers door, near the latch and get the numbers off of the plate that is riveted to the door.
Should look something like F10CU350001 . This is an example of a good VIN number for a 61-66 truck.
Zac, Stick with us here and we will help you get your truck on the road SAFELY for minimal investment. We were all 16 once and with limited funds. Patience and planning will get you through this. Ask around for someone in your area that has a trailer, roll back or a dolly to move your truck to your place safely. I don't think you should be driving this vehicle on the hiway until you are sure about the brakes. Safety is the most important issue here you gotta get through these teen years with out serious injury and your life. How much time do you have to get the truck togeather before you get your license?
