[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-Aug-02 AT 02:04 AM (EST)] My 64 ford is at the house i bought it from, still i bought it like 2 moths ago. my dad is going to get a one day moving permit for it but, he doesnt want to drive it with the brake condition. every time you stomp on the brakes from 5-10 mph the right front tire locks up. even when you slightly press on the brakes the right front lockes up. if going down the road and this happens it could either go in the ditch or pull a 90 and stall in the road making one big A-- accident.
i have bled all 4 brakes i am going to buy new brakes but first i need to get it to my house. Any ideas on how to fix this problem atleast for 25 miles??? thanx

The otherside because the brake are not working on that side. May I suggest you tow the truck to your place and go through the brakes BEFORE you put this vehicle on the road. Post back and tell us more about your truck, your plans, and goals.

Try tightening the side which doesn't lock. If the truck won't brake safely at that point, follow William's advice: tow it home, no matter the cost. You cannot afford the personal cost in pain and suffering if an accident results - and the pain and suffering might not be all yours.
Try this proverb on for size: "Never sacrifice the permanent on the altar of the immediate."
Play this one safe - so you can enjoy that truck for many years to come.
I toatally agree with you guys, thats why i posted it up here. if i couldnt get it to work properly then i would have it towed. the reason why i was asking is because i'm going to have to fix it anyways might as well fix it there.were have enogh room in this guys back yard to test it over 30 mph if it acts weird i will have to tow it. i alrdy went to a place to rent dollys trailers and stuff like that. you cant pull a truck in a dolly, you need a trailor, but you need a 3/4 ton truck to pull the trailer or else they wont even rent it out. i dont know anyone with a 3/4 ton. its gonna cost 250$ for the trailer 400$ to rent the truck. im thinking of renting a uhaul for the day. only 30$ instead of $400. 600$ is more than i have right now so towing it is my LAST resort. I am pretty good friends with this guy, im pretty sure he would let me work on it at his house until its street safe. I only need about 500$-$700 to fix it to make it road safe with the way i want it. It needs a steering gear box, It doesnt Need it i just want a new one because it will eventually need one in the near future. I figure buy it now while im still waiting and have money than when im driving and spent the money. It needs new cylinder brakes, like the steering box its not manditory yet but i like to stop. it stops fine now but the truck has been ignored. and a seat it has one but its in horrible condition. If anyone knows were i can find theese on the internet for decent prices let me know my email is s8terdude86(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

ZAC: Had you thought of an old-fashioned bumper tow bar? I don't see them often any more, but they were designed to clamp over the front bumper to pull the truck along with all 4 wheels on the ground. Cars today don't even have that kind of a bumper, and in the early 70s, some went to a paper thin piece of metal. I tried to tow a 71 Pinto like that, and it turned the bumper into spaghetti. Your truck has the right kind of front bumper to do this, though, unless it is rusted out.
Look for one. You might even need to buy it, then turn around and sell it. Or just keep it. You can probably get one for about a hundred bucks or even less, since no one uses them anymore.
You can tow a pickup with a 2 wheel dolly, as long as you load the rear wheels on it. You might want to check the grease in the front bearings first though. U-haul also rents full size car hauling trailers for around 80$ a day. With a standard 1/2 ton truck you can tow one of these safely. Just keep your speed down and don't make any sudden turns and you'll be just fine. I've towed about 4 trucks this way with no accidents, with one of them over 400 miles.
