black smoke

Here is the scenerio. Driving and there is a complete loss of acceleration, keep on the gas and a cloud of black smoke comes out.This happens periodically. Seems to happen after oil and filter changes. Went to the dealer last winter because of the same problem and they put a new fuel pump on it. Any explinations?

I'd be leaning towards a stuck or sticking EGR valve. Probably just coincidence that it happens after oil changes.

Sticking EGR valve or sticking VGT (vanes) in the turbo.

Have dealer download your PCM and check for any stored trouble codes... I would suspect there are 1 or 2... and intermittent at that.

You may need or be elligible for an updated flash of your PCM computer.

Let us know what yo find out.

I took my truck to the dealer 28 hrs ago. I finally called him a few minutes ago. He said it was the EGR Valve. The service managers at my dealership are jerks.28 hrs later and not a word from them.
