You will notice better MPG when you get up around 20Kmiles...I get around 16 in the city and as good as 21 on the hwy, but only if I can use cruise control for an extended period. Keep fresh oil and clean fuel and you should get decent MPG. Like it was said earlier...It depends on your right foot.
With currant fuel prices I had my lead foot swapped out for a feather. Anyone hear that they are shutting down the alaska pipeline for repairs? Heard it at the dealer today, sounds like bad news for us all.
In FEB or March 2006 i got my (06 f250 xcab longbed 6.0l psd turbo 4x4). it had 32 miles on it. after the first tank or so... i did the numbers and im avreging around 12 - 13 mpg. Im about to do my first oil change and im about to go on vacation for a rode trip to utah. ill let everyone know how the milage is when i get back. also if you havnt started using it yet might i sugest "Diesel Kleen". I didnt know about it until i joined this site. But ill be using it from now on. Just some Advise. Thanks....
My son-in-law is getting 12's for overall around town driving in his 06 F-350 crewcab SRW Fx4 shortbed with automatic. The previous 04 F-250 was doing much better.
My 06 F-250 is about 1 MPG worse than my previous 04 F-250 with the exception of towing and there it is about the same.
Changed oil yesterday evening and my overhead jumped from 14 city back to 16mpg city. Outside temps were slightly lower (106F down to 95F). Changed with my regular brand and the old oil only had 4,700 miles on it.
I figured it was the extreme heat that lowered my mileage or lower cetane in my fuel when I last filled up... now I am wondering if my oil had something to do with it???
Either way... I am back to where I need to be.
16mpg - city
18mpg - hwy
Thanks,
Jeff

I get about 15 (if it's true city) and 19 to 20 pure highway. Combined over several tanks I show 17.5 to 18 averages. And I get 12 pulling a 5000 lb trailer at 72 mph.
After lots of discussions about fuel mileage, I am convinced that the higher cetane requirements in certain urban areas like DFW give me better mpg's. I have really noticed a difference when getting fuel outside of my area.
60,000 miles on my 05 F250 FX4. Perfect except for a little rattle in the driver door and the peeling paint on the emblems (replaced twice now). That's it - not a single major problem - just those two little things. That's the best service record I've ever had on any truck or car owned and I've owned a bunch.
