Just changed my 05 TS remote and in pan filters. Once you drop the pan, you will get at least another .5 qts out. Inside the pan, the drain hole has a magnetic washer that is at least 1/8 inch high in addition to the fact that the drain bolt is not in the lowest part of the pan nets a lot of fluid. Also once you drop the internal filter, at least .5 quart comes gushing down on you. These three factors combine for almost two qts additional fluid. Just dropping the pan and changing both filters netted over 9 qts in collected fluild.
I added seven and did a short drive, didn't even show on the dip stick. Added another qt (8 total now) and it shows half way in the C (read: COLD) part of the dipstick which looks to be at least .5 qt lower than the H (read HOT) section and the truck was hot.
Bottom line, if your going to drop the pan and change the internal filter along with the remote, you better have at least 9 qts on hand. I'm still low after adding 8 and every post on this site says 7.5 to 8 MAX with the procedures I did.
Good thing I'm not towing anything tomorrow......................
