Picking a new motor

On a previous thread (Is this ring blowby?) My fears were confirmed that the old 83" 351W is terminally ill. I have decided to replace it with a new long block 351W but don't want all the charcoal filters, EGR, air pump stuff associated with the one I have now. Does this sound like a good package for a daily driven truck?
Performance brand 351W stock block and heads ( autozone)
Holley street avenger 4 barrel 590cfm #080570
Edelbrock performer intake non egr #2181
Accel super coil #140001
Flowtech Headers with true duel exhaust
As well as new waterpump, oil pump, radiator.

One question I have is will I have to upgrade my stock distributer?

Any recomendations?

It is used to go to work 5 days a week , 12mi one way , and to drag a 16 foot boat to the lake on weekends. Haul wood too. Basicly it is my only vehicle. I was lookin for something with a little more umph in the 0-4000 rpm range. She's got the four speed tranny with that creeper gear for 1st. Also says it has the 33 axle? with a 10 bolt rear.

Just so you know Engine questions are best asked in the engine forums plus the engine perfomance forum.

Those guys in those forums live and breathe engine performance.

I do know that the 60's/70's 351Windsors are more potent than 80's 351W's and it looks like you have the correct add-ons figured out.

Ignition:Using the accel coil will probabaly play havoc with a Ford dizzy because it (accel) operates at 4 volts higher than the Ford system does.

I assume you would be using 9mm wires as well ?

Sorry about posting in the wrong place. Newbie mistake.

Actually I was going to get a set of 8mm wires but if the coil is wrong then I guess I will prob. stay stock.
I am capable of changing many things on a car/truck but two things elude me, electrical and vaccum(spl)
Thats why i asked about the combonation listed above. If an earlier 351W is stronger than my current one then I will see if I can find one in a long block. The bell housing and engine mounts wont give me any trouble, correct?
Thank you

I'm thinking wear between the contact point rotor to cap.

How much energy does the accel put out compared to the DSII or DSIII system ?

Most DS caps have aluminium looking type contacts and corrode easily.

What are the contacts made of in accel or Pertronix caps ?
