..........Soon as my home sells I'm planning on making some performance additions to my 99PSD , the first of which , Hopefully , will BE a Droneproof exhaust system . Has anyone gotten a handle on this particular issue?? I'm going to be pulling a TT or a Truck camper and I'd hate to have to listen to a Drone for 8 hours of driving . Thanks , skuteman

Start with an MBRP 5" or 4" aluminized exhaust with muffler delete. If your drone is real bad u can add an Aeroturbine 4040L muffler/resonator with an exhaust guide in front of it to really drop the drone levels. Mounting both units as close to the downpipe will help.
My truck had real bad drone(SB,Extracab). Adding a 80hp Tipton chip helped
out.
Here's a link for the exhaust system: LINK Talk to Garrett, he's awesome to work with and help you get the best system. I don't believe he carries the exhaust guide. I have one installed myself and like the quieting effect. My exhaust purrrrs nice.

Here's a link for SS flex pipe that also reduces drone: LINK

i dont think there are any drone proof exhausts out there. it is just a matter of opinion on what you think is bad drone or not much at all. i have heard of people having drone with almost all exhausts and the next person will come and say he doesnt have any with the same system. i think stock is the only one that you will not have drone with
If the sound echos in your head and gives you a headache just driving down the road you have drone. If you can stand to drive your truck for hours on end without getting a headache then you probably don't
drone can be described as if the exhaust seems to get alot louder within a certain RPM range, on mine it was 1900-2000 and then it went away. it is because aftermarket exhausts have thinner walled piping, and when it vibrates it comes into a frequency where it gets so much louder.
Corsa Performance makes a "drone proof" exhaust system with a fancy chambered muffler. there was an article in DieselPower where a guy installed one on his 06 f-250 with a 6.0. i dont know if they make turbo back kits for 7.3?
its probably not practical (im not) but i have a tiny noticeable bit of drone with my stacks now. it was bad with a 4" straight pipe and the people who have rode with me so far didnt even pick up on it.
