Roadtrip advice needed
I am coming to the USA from the UK with my Girlfriend and need some advice
We arrive in Dallas Fort worth on the 21st September and have 12 days
We plan on visiting Memphis, Nashville, Austin and probably New Orleans and anywhere interesting on route (we are music fans)
Things we would like to find:
Car / Truck shows, Cruises, Museums, Speed shops (need some ali heads for my flat 8) and of course any suppliers of parts for my 54 F100
Any advice on places to visit or avoid would be much appreciated
Also looking for route planning websites where you can enter destinations and get distance, travel times etc.
Steve

For route planning go to www.mapquest.com
mapquest is just what I am looking for, I will post in the state forums when I have worked out when and where I will get to
bf250, I live in uxbridge, my GF lives in Ruislip a mile or so from Eastcote, were you stationed at one of the US forces bases in the area, Austin and Nashville are the main places I want to get too, all the blues and country music we can handle
helifixer, My other hobby (apart from my truck) is white water kayaking, I paddled the Canyon in 1992, it was without a doubt the most amazing trip and just last week we got a permit for another trip in July 2008, don't think I will be able to get there this year but may see you then.

If I could suggest a more reliable map site: maps.yahoo.com or maps.google.com- Mapquest is very sketchy. I can tell you this from personal experience as well as numerous friends.
If you're big music lovers definately hit up Memphis as well as Nashville. You'll have alot of genres of history to choose from.
Another suggestion, if you like a particular band or artist, check their website to see if they'll be touring any of the cities you might be visiting. And maybe plan your trip around those!

yes, i was stationed at one of the bases, my wife and i went to uxbridge frequently for her shopping and such, we usually hanged around eascote/ruislip area walking in the parks and my favorite running area which is ruislip lido.
we moved from there last year, really do miss it now, love the area and the atmosphere of london.
if you can hit up austin, memphis and nashville, that would be the way to do it, i would personnly take more time out for nashville and the surrounding area but of course i am impartial to it being here in TN, austin is my second favorite.
good luck on the trip and any questions feel free to ask! cheers!
