Towed 9k, total truck weight on this trip 19k, traveled 600 miles from NJ to
WV, this was the first tow since the head gasket replacement.
Truck did great, no coolant puking, the only issue is the engine light came on going up a really steep grade, about halfway into the trip, running totally stock.
We're in the Logan WV area and I seen Thornhill Ford on RT 119, does anybody know if this shop is recommended or should I go somewhere else to get the engine light checked out?
We're on our way back now. Couldn't get an appointment with any dealer, in the area I was in, they we're backed up for over a week.
But I'm happy to report that the engine light finally reset itself after a few days and the truck has ran great, I've put on close to 2k miles on this trip without a single hickup, except for a tranny rumble under pressure, shifting from 1st to 2nd or maybe 2nd to 3rd. It only happened on very steep inclines.
was your truck stock before the work was done? I just took my rig in for something that I am hoping is not a head gasket...
I was running the Predator on towing mode 40hp, before the head gasket replacement, it would puke coolant only when I towed heavy long distance, uphills steep grade and I always towed with the Predator set to towing mode.
Head gasket replacement was at 36k, at about 39k I started to run it with the Predator at 100hp for about 8k with out a problem, but I never towed that whole time and I never really got on it heavy,(didn't have to) LOL. No power take offs, just once in a while after allready going, I would get on it.
At about 48k I went back to stock (that was hard) . At 50k I towed for the 1st time since the head gasket, completly stock, towed 9k, total truck and trailer weight on this trip 19k, and the only issue I had was what I reported on the earlier post. I think I won't be reinstalling the Predator.
The truck performed really well all in all, I really gave it a good test this trip, plenty of steep grades up and down (love the tow/haul mode). Total miles 1950.
