'87 Still not Starting
Well it's still not starting.
But it is turning over now quite well with the new starter I just put on it.
It smells of gas, and gas came down out of the line from the conection just before the fuel filter.
I pulled the number one spark plug and held it near the bracket for the A/c and got no spark while it was being turned over.
With this in mind I am thinking maybe it's the coil?
But I don't know how to check it. Or anything else.
Any thoughts on what to look at would be apreciated.

I just have no idea where to go from here.
I have determined that I have the TIF, or not Duraspark II, ignition system if that helps any one.

1. Check to make sure you have a good body ground from the NEG (-) Post of the Battery to the Body.
2. Check to make sure that the small black wire with a green stripe at the NEG (-) Post of the Battery has a good connection to the battery.
3. Check the both sides of your Ignition Coil with a test light with the key on, it should light, if not check the connector at the coil or the Ignition Switch.
4. If it lights crank the Engine and with the test light on the NEG (-, tach) side of the coil it should flash, if not check for a bad ground inside the Distributor.
5. If ground is OK in distributor change out the TFI Module.
6. If still no flash after changing out the TFI Module change out the pick up unit in the Distributor.
