i got really pissed off the other day and smashed out my windshield, and my pasengerside window, now i know now it was reallllly stupid of me to do such a thing, the truck means an aweful lot to me even though it hasnt moved in quite some time, i love it to death, i just lost my temper, i need a new y pipe and some smaller things for it, but with the windshield completely removed, is it worth putting the truck back together/?? im very short on money right now, and im a pretty recourceful person i know alot of junkyards arould where i live, ut is it worth the effort to someone who cant afford to keep the gas tank above dry???? most of thetime?? i now its a hard question to answer, but its in theway i love this truck but im broke and i want tosee it move again someday tel me whatyou all think thankyou
Of course it's worth it. You probably won't be broke forever. Just work on it little by little. I just got my truck rolling down the road again a few months ago after sitting for 2+ years when I was short on funds. It's a great feeling rolling down the road again.
is that the way you treat everything u love??? but yes,i would say keep it,probably cost more to replace it with something else than fix what few problems it has.
If a person is financially strapped to the point of where working and spending money on a old truck drives them to being out of control, NO, it is not worth it. A person spending their leisure time on buying parts and working on a old truck for a hobby, that in itself should give that person a sense of relaxation or fun. ..
When a old truck is being counted on by the owner to get them back and forth to work to make a living , it is a much different scenario. When one is spending all their spare money and time on keeping it running, it will cause extreme anxiety much like what has been demonstrated in this OT. Everyone should try to know what their needs and expectations are , AND their financial considerations, BEFORE getting in to rebuilding these old trucks. My personal experience is , they are not for the faint of heart OR the light of wallet. good luck on your choice. jmo

Maybe this truck question is a good opportunity for a good hard look at life and priorities.
When you're so poor you can't buy gas, you put away expensive hobbies like truck restoration. You take up cheap hobbies like hiking, jogging, reading. If you already have all the tools, maybe woodworking. You engage in these hobbies enough to keep your mind and body healthy so they can be productive, but no more than that. Because mostly you're concentrating on doing whatever it takes to improve your economic situation. Rent eating up 50% of your income? Swallow your pride and live with family, or at least share with someone. Car payments? Dump it and buy a beater. Stuck in a crappy job? Take night courses. You've got a computer - there's lots you can learn online fof ree, especially in the field of computers and programming. That sort of thing.
At mid-life, after a disaster, I went vehicle-less and lived with family for several years, working 9-hour days 6 days a week to get a business off the ground. Paid for my room and board by renovating their house for them on Sundays. My hobbies were hiking, canoeing ('cause I already had one), and studying.
But that doesn't mean forgetting the truck altogether. Life is long. Situations change. It costs nothing to tarp it up good and store it. Then someday you won't believe the sense of personal staisfaction when your years of hard work mean you can un-tarp it and do it right............

Nobody can tell you what to do but some of us can definatly understand. Personally; I dreamed of rebuilding a truck for 20 years before life allowed me the resourses to do it. Now that I can I'm really enjoying it but like its already been said it costs way more than planned. All I can say is be paitent, keep your baby, and wait for the right time. Look at the bright side ... the longer it takes to do your baby the older and therefore rarer it will be !!
