Upgrades??

Heres one for you what all is out there for the 2001 ranger edge with a 3.0 v-6
In means of performance upgrades?Im told you cant get a cam for it cause its a roller rocker or something like that is this true it was by a performance shop located here in texas.I know you can go $$ and get a turbo, supercharger,or chip/tuner but is there anything else now im not looking for outrageous v-8 performance and no nitrous.but any one that can help id appreciate it

Since cubic inches are the fastest way to get ponies, I would look into trading it for a 4.0 Ranger. Think about it for a moment, the money you will spend on that 3.0 just to try to get it up to what a 4.0 is would do some justice on a trade in. Just my 2 cents.

lol oooohhhh so true!

No replacement for displacement they say. A 4.0L has more baseline power to work with, and there's a decent aftermarket for them.

For a 3.0L, go the standard route, intake, exhaust, chip. That alone adds a good bit of power. Afterwords, you get into more money for less results.

I've got your exact truck, but in a 4x. Did a Bama Programmer, K & N FIPK, and Flowmaster Muffler....it woke the 3.0 up, mine seems to like the torque program more than the HP programs..

Our first test for the new mod, how soon the honeymoon can be over hee hee. "Well', Here we go, another one of our members just did an 02 3.0, Ondgas has an mac intake, jet mass air flow sensor, jba shorty headers, tb spacer, jet module, and a flowmaster catback. He's supost to finish up the install this weekend I believe, then report back to us on his results. The tread is alittle further down, called 3.0 performance mods: by Ondgas. I have all that stuff more,or less on an 04 4.0 sohc, the motor runs awesome. The one thing that made the biggest difference, was the bama chips programer, if you have mods, it will help use them to thier full potenial, or works wonders on a stock motor. If you want an instant shot in the arm for your 3.0, go with the bama programer, Doug specailizes in rangers, and costum tunes for your truck, not generic tunes like jet. since your new, I'll give you the heads up on the inside joke, performance questions tend to bring up some heated debates on this forum, so set back, and watch the fur fly hee hee !! Welcome to the forum!!!
