I have a '92 XLT Flareside with the leather-wrap steering wheel (2 spoke, similar to the 1991 truck's wheel only more rounded). I am about to purchase a wheel from a '95 F150, (four spokes /w airbag)... I know the airbag will not work in mine, nor do I want or need it to. I just need to know if I can just simply swap my wheel for it. The columns are all the same from '92-'96, so I figure I can just remove mine and bolt the new one in it's place. The wiring connections for the cruise and horn are probably all the same as well.
Has anyone done this? I really hope I can. I like the 94-96 steering wheels so much better than those dumb 92-93 ones.
Yeah, but I am more of a factory mod kinda guy... you know, interchanging parts from different years and trim levels to create a factory, yet modified vehicle.
I have found a steering wheel by Grant that I like, but I don't want to mess with buying it, a ford horn button (gotta have one of them), and a cruise control adapter kit so I can retain my factory cruise. In the long run, I save money and still get a steering wheel I like if I just buy the '95 wheel. Plus, I am getting a great deal... it is leather, has cruise, and is new in the box from FoMoCo and is costing me $45. Add on another $15 for a new airbag to go with it (they don't come with the wheel), and you have a $60 upgrade that is really worth it.
$15 for an airbag? Do you mean the airbag cover? The airbag itself is expensive. I'm confused because I wouldn't think you're trying to hook up an airbag here.

Yeah, they are typically made out of a non-corosive (i.e. expensive) metal.
