97 4wd Light

97 4wd Light
i will start by saying hello since i am new here.
my ? is on my 97 expy i have the switch for 4wd
( 2WD, A4WD, 4H, 4L ) When i switch to the 4WD settings the only light that will come on is the A4WD light the 4x4 and low light do not come on.
i do however know that the fron drivetrain is moving but if it is engaging in 4x4 or low i have no clue.
any help would be greatly appreciated i am clueless

To engage the 4WL, you MUST be in neutral with foot on the brake.
To check and see if things are really engaged, you might try tieing your truck off to a post or a tree in a gravel parking lot and see how many tires spin.
I have a hill that I use... 2 wheel drive won't go up it.
My hubs seem to stick so I have to run in A4WD for a few miles before they will engage. Once they get warmed up... they are fine at least the rest of the day.

the 4wd motor that switches into 4hi or 4lo is probably stuck find it under the truck and try tapping it with a hammer might work just happened to me a couple of weeks ago plus it locked my trans in lo gear and wouldn't come out hope this helps
