Just got the rear axle bearings in the truck JUST in the knick of time - just as the Chevette konked out on me. I was under harrison's diffy, looking for it's diffy vent - wanted to check to make sure it was not blocked (thus causing the leaking out the axle bearings..). It's a '74 "9 incher". Could I request the direction of one of the locals as to where it is?..... Is it on the passenger side or the driver side? On the top of the housing or front / back side?
I found one thing thats part of where the rear brake lines merge and go out to each brake backing plate. It appeared to have the remnants of a hose on it with a Ford style crimped clamp on it. I could not stick a paper clip into it.... would this be the vent?
Thanks guys.... anyway, I have to start terrorizing the town and drive harrison till peenut gets fixed.... (which won't be anytime soon in this 105 degree weather!!)......
