I need a new windscreen for my 56 F100 and there seem to be a number of different suppliers available across the US. My question is, do they vary in quality and fit? They all seem between $250 and $300, so there is not much difference in price? Apart from tint, the other choice is between tempered and laminated. Can someone explain the difference and which is better?
Thanks
Jon
Front windshields must be safety glass, not tempered glass (in the US). All other glass may be either. I believe there is only one manufacturer making replacement windshields for the 56 and they offer clear or green tint safety glass. I'd suggest getting one from your local auto glass shop and save a ton on shipping costs and potential breakage. OOPs just noticed you're across the pond, sorry.
LOF is very good, and they supply glass on a global scale. Any glass shop can order one and install. They break it ( unlikely ) they still own it. You break it ( likely ) and you own it. I paid 260. inslalled of a tinted OLF and in went in in less tham 1 ( yes , one ) minute using a new rubber gasket.
These guys specialise in supplying glass for American vehicles in the UK

I got quotes for my 54 of around £350, shipping a windscreen from the USA would be expensive and the chances of it arriving in one piece would be unlikely
